A chatbot is a software application used to conduct an online chat conversation via text or text-to-speech. Chatbots are used in dialogue systems for various purposes including customer service, request routing, or information gathering.
Experiment and practise with chatbots in English language learning and watch Youtube related to chatbots and English language learning. Some examples of chatbots are Duolingo, Siri, Google Asssitant, Mondly, Memrise and Babbel.
In a group of 5-6 students, discuss how chatbot improves your English language learning. In your interaction (dialogue) with your group members:
- discuss how chatbots can improve your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English
- discuss how English language learning chatbots help you in your workplace
iii. what are the strengths and challenges of using chatbots in language learning
- suggest how lecturers should use a chatbot in their teaching and learning activities
with their students for English language learning
- What do you think about the assessment features in the chatbot (if your chat has this feature)
