Assignment 2: RA 2: Effecve Consulng Research Methods Report
Descripon of RA 2:
For this assignment, you are to review the scenario below and develop an 8- to 10-page report (plus a cover page and reference page), following the direcons below. Please also review the below descripon of the quantave methodology called Mulple Regression and then watch the Lynda.com video Compung a Mulple Regression as well, to increase your familiarity with this method of analyzing data. Please note that you are not expected to use the program depicted in the video or use the language described in the video to write your report for this assignment.
Industrial Organizaonal Psychology specialists oen examine the ways in which one or more variables can predict another. Mulple regression is a popular stascal tool that is ulized for predicng an outcome (the dependent variable, or target) from two or more independent variables (the predictors). In business, regression equaons may be used to study or forecast salaries, hiring needs, sales, turnover rates, etc. In essence, the process both idenfies the predictors, or combinaon of them, that best explain the variability in observaons on the dependent variable. The resulng equaon for the best fit of the data can then be tested on, or applied to, new observaons to predict not- yet-observed outcomes.

You have been contracted by a company to hire the next chief execuve officer (CEO). The company has given you a list of five potenal candidates for that posion, and wants you to first gather data about the execuves to help determine the best candidate. The candidates have been engaged in coaching and have also taken an emoonal intelligence (EI) test. You suspect that variables such as years of experience as an execuve, months of coaching, and years of educaon will contribute to the scores on the EI test, as well as the success of the right candidate. In this case, the higher the EI score, the beer. More business experience, higher educaon, more months with a coach, and higher EI test scores indicate the more appropriate candidates. The assumpon is that the company has offered coaching in the past. The data of the emoonal intelligence test conducted on the candidates is given in the table below:
Years of Experience in
Level of Educaon
# of Months in Coaching
Emoonal Intelligence (EI)
5 1 5 88
6 2 4 78
12 3 9 56
21 3 8 88
7 2 5 97
Using any research methods textbook that you may have and at least five addional scholarly sources from the Argosy University online library (regarding mulple regression and mulple predictor variables), create an 8- to 10-page report for company leadership. Complete the following to include in the report:
Perform a mulple regression analysis. On the basis of the results and the scholarly literature regarding predictors of chief execuve officer’s (CEO’s) performance, recommend the best candidate and jusfied your choice.
Describe the stascal analyses used and the mulple regression that is best suited for this type of measurement.
Determine the best predictors of the emoonal intelligence (EI) test scores.
Idenfy other external variables that could influence one’s choice and explained why.
Offer addional recommendaons in regard to the variables used and your findings.
Idenfy any ethical and diversity issues that may affect the selecon process.
Your final product will be in a Microso Word document approximately eight to ten pages in length. Ulize at least five scholarly sources in your research. Your paper should be wrien in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representaon and aribuon of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuaon.
All wrien assignments and responses should follow APA rules for aribung sources.
